| Paolo Pace September 15th, 2001. You don't have to be a designer to have font problems because like most who are reading this you own or work on a computer that has fonts. In fact, most computer users have more fonts than they can use! What you probably didn't know was how many of those fonts are problematic. It is quite common for any given computer to have displaced fonts, broken font families, copies from different foundries and especially corrupt fonts- the nasty kinds that cause your system to crash or lock up. These problems are so common, in fact, that Insider Software had created a font utility to combat the problem. That solution was called FontAgent. Since its inception it has improved itself to its current version today, FontAgent 8.5. "FontAgent 8.5 was designed to be simple, efficient and deadly in its ability to set fonts right." Insider Software and FontAgent 8.5 know something we don't and that is that much of the slothful behavior and errors that occur on our systems are caused by problematic fonts and rather than have us waste valuable time trying to resolve these issues FontAgent does it for us and in record time! FontAgent is capable of fixing corrupt font files just as easily as it rejoins font families, resolves duplicate fonts and restructures your fonts into a comprehensive collection that is far more intuitive. FontAgent 8.5 rapidly locates all the font files in specified locations through a very simply drag and drop interface. FontAgent allows you to effortlessly add folders, hard drives, CD drives, or a combination of all, depending on your needs. So if you have fonts in one location or all over the place you don't have to worry about whether or not FontAgent can find them because it will. FontAgent hunts through your system like a predator looking for its next meal, leaving no stone (or drive!) unturned. Because of its thorough abilities to locate fonts you don't have to worry about manually opening folders and adding fonts one at a time. FontAgent 8.5 was designed to be simple, efficient and deadly in its ability to set fonts right. Once FontAgent discovers your fonts it performs a thorough check on each font file. It seeks out and eliminates issues that cause crashes, system freezes, errors, and other severe font-related problems. In other words, without FontAgent scouring your system for these potential problems you might never figure out the source of such difficulties. Not sure if any of this pertains to your system? Pretty confident that your fonts are good fonts and would never dare cause you trouble? Why not try out the FontAgent Demo, which easily identifies corrupt fonts. I think you'll be surprised at what has been lurking inside your font folders. "FontAgent hunts through your system like a predator looking for its next meal..." Sadly, corrupt little troll fonts hiding under computer folders aren't the only potential problems you should be on the lookout for. Other major hassles are duplicate or unmatched fonts, which can leave you with improper type or fonts that simply don't work. Not to worry, FontAgent can handle this too. The software easily locates them and places them into a "Problem fonts" folder. This includes mismatched PFB and PFM files. FontAgent leaves the newest and functioning versions of duplicate fonts while removing the copy. What you are left with is nothing but functioning fonts! When all is said and done FontAgent 8.5 not only locates and solves issues with your fonts but also organizes them into comprehensive folders making life with your type much easier. Fonts find there way into your computer through bundled software, installations and direct font downloads and each and every one of them runs the risk of causing you problems. Keep them in check with FontAgent 8.5! MAC: 3 MB of available memory, disk space to hold the optimized fonts. | PC: Windows 98+, 3 MB of available memory, disk space to hold the optimized fonts.
