StudioLine Photo by H&M Software is a tool for managing and editing digital images; for digital photographers, web site designers, or home users. StudioLine Photo addresses the difficulties of managing and editing a large number of images, and would be useful for collecting images for a web site, for a digital image gallery, or even for a travel scrapbook.
After installing StudioLine Photo and opening up a couple folders full of digital images, it immediately became apparent that it was easy to navigate around a large number of images. The images are stored in a searchable tree view, and the thumbnails of all images in the folder are quickly displayed along with titles, descriptions and dates.
StudioLine Photo has all of the image editing effects you would expect, such as cropping, red eye removal, color balance, emboss, and so on; and most importantly it focuses on the ability to edit multiple images together and retain and compare all modifications to the originals. This becomes a significant value as you will see.
For example, say you’d like to add just a touch more saturation to an image so that it stand out at the same level as the colors on a web site. You can adjust the saturation while viewing a split image of the original and increased saturation images (See Figure 1). In fact, you can easily adjust the splitter bar to view any fraction of the original or image modified image. The performance of this feature is especially impressive, as the splitter bar can be moved immediately without any recalculation of the saturation. This is because StudioLine Photo always keeps the original image close at hand.

Overall, I would recommend StudioLine for anyone does image editing for a large number of images. Web designers will find it useful for managing and editing sets of images for a consistent site design. Photographers and home users will find it useful for creating image galleries. The price makes StudioLine Photo very feasible when compared to the prices of full-scale graphic design software applications, which would be unnecessary for most web designers and photographers.
