Adobe After Effects 7.0
Jacquelin Vanderwood

The major change to the greatest motion graphics and visual effects program, Adobe After Effect 7.0, is the complete makeover of the interface. It's been customized so that it's much easier to use, menus don't get lost, and you can keep track of your project in an efficient manner. Instead of having to constantly battle overlapping palettes and windows, or having to rearrange panels, the interface is now unified and can be customized to suit a particular type of project's needs. The user can define the visual brightness of the workspace to their personal tastes. The overall interface change allows workflow to be much more efficient and timesaving.

Included in this version are new transitions, animated texts, backgrounds, and behavior presets in addition to the ones that are already contained in the program. Besides that, there are templates available such as show opens, animated backgrounds, and DVD motion menus.

Another exciting new feature is how the new more versatile graph editor empowers the user to be able to control areas of a project much more successfully. You can edit animation properties in multiple layers with a variety of more visually prominent controls.

The new 32-bit float high dynamic range (HDR) makes what you see on screen in reference to color and light, much more real as to what you see in life.

There's also the new (FLV) Flash video support for encoding video and audio.

In the professional version of After Effects 7.0, there is a complete retiming tool called Timewarp that provides a excellent control of image data from retimed footage.

This is such a monumental upgrade that any serious motion graphics person needs to truly consider having it. The new features and makeover are tremendous.
