Designing Web Usability is like the
ultimate book on web design theory. I was fascinated reading this book.
If you designed one or more web sites most of the things talked about in
this book will be familiar to you as well as the questions posed.
"What resolution should I design for?", "Is it ok to use
frames?", "Just how big should my images be?" and many
more considerations we must take into account when designing a web site.
This book doesn't just talk about
specifications, it also shows screen shots of web sites and points out
the strengths and weaknesses of each.
Designing Web Usability covers page
design, content design, site design, accessibility and more. Topics are
covered in-depth and the book is well organized.
This is a very informative book and
good reading for those interested or currently involved in web design.
One of the topics covered is screen resolution and it talks about the
evolution of web page width design from the beginning when web pages
were designed to fit into 300 pixels and how now the average is 775
pixels which will fit an 800 pixel screen resolution. Designing for
browser compatibility is included as well as color depth.
This book should be on your desktop as
a reference guide.
