Using 1-Rail Sweep - discreet 3ds max Tutorial
Jacquelin Vanderwood | 1 | | You can use any shape you want here. Duplicate the shape. Create a path from shape to shape. Convert all shapes to NURBS. At this point you can manipulate one or both pieces (squares) and increase/decrease their size. | | 2 | | Select the NURBS Creation Toolbox and click on 1-Rail Sweep. | | 3 | | With 1-Rail Sweep selected: 1) click on the middle piece--the path, 2) now click on one end (in this case one square), 3) click on the other square. | | 4 | | You should have a piece that looks something like this. | | 5 | | To fill the open ends, go to the Modifier List and select Cap Holes. | | 6 | | To manipulate the shape of the model, open the Modify panel, select NURBS Surface, then Curve CV. Select vertices in the area you wish to change--using Select and Move, start adjusting. You can also use the Select and Rotate and the Select and Squash buttons to further the changes. | | 7 | | Below are some manipulations to the subject. I find that if the lessons are kept simple in the beginning, it's much easier to master the various processes of the program. Try using the 1-Rail Sweep with different shapes. You'll be using this method as well as others to create legs, arms, etc. | Copyright 2001
