If you have geometry created, open up the Material Shader. Under Shader Basic Parameters select Translucent Shader. Click on Assign Material to Selection.
Using Quick Render, you'll notice that not a whole lot has happened.
Under Translucency you'll see Translucent Clr (color). Select a tan color for this lesson.
Change Filter Color to a middle blue and make Opacity 51.
Make adjustments to Specular Highlights as shown below.
After applying the changes, a Quick Render reveals a dramatic change to our geometry.
Changing the background and the item it's sitting on, you can see more of the shader.
Let's add a yellow green to Ambient.
Increase Specular Level to 157 and Glossiness to 0.
Notice how making the changes has created a silky translucent look to the piece.
I've made changes to Ambient and the Translucency colors.
Again look at how making the changes below has transformed the look of the bowl.
Finally, I've added a Falloff map to Diffuse Color under Maps. You can also play with other Map settings as well and add lighting for completely different effects.
