Let's start by creating a box with the measurements of 4' on each side.

Open the Material Editor.
Click on Diffuse and select a color.
Open Maps and select Bump. Select an interesting pattern such as Smoke.
Click on Show Map in Viewport button.
Under Modifiers select Unwrap UVW.
Select Unwrap UVW.
Click on Select Face.
Select one side.
Click the Planar Map button.
Select PlanarMap0.
Select another side and press Planar Map again. If you have done this step twice as I have done, you'll find that a name for the this will be assigned PlanarMap1. Ignore it and select PlanarMap2.
Select a third side and follow the same process.
Click Edit.
In the UVW Edit box, click on the Filter Selected Faces button.
Select PlanarMap0.
Notice how that face is now selected.
In the UVW Edit box click on the move tool. Move a vertex.
So now when you selected PlanarMap0, PlanarMap2, and PlanarMap3, watch the viewports change. One viewport will portray one selection then the next selection will jump to another viewport and so on.
