In this tutorial I'll show you how to create a small animation using the null object and orient to path feature. Tutorial Includes project files.
There are clouds drifting in this animation so I created a Null object and animated then used the Pick Whip from the clouds layer and dragged it up to the null object layer to connect it.

For the four waves, I animated one wave then duplicated the keyframes to all of the other waves.

For two of the waves I applied Time-Reverse Layer which flips the way the animation runs.

For the fish I added keyframes in Position (accessed by hitting the P key while in the layer).

I applied Auto-Orient to the fish to make it follow the animation with it's head in the right position. I did that for both fish.

I applied Easy Ease to the keyframes.

And also manipulated the graph to make the animation of the two fish more smooth.

And that's the way I animated Flying Fish "The Movie". Sure, I could do a lot more with it but I wanted you to learn some of the basics.
