This tutorial will present another way to make amazing text effects, just one of many you can do in After Effects 7. Tutorial Includes project files.
Let's start by changing the Workspace to Text.

Begin by selecting the Text tool then setting the font and text size.

I've chosen to type the word SPOOKY for this demonstration.

At this point you can change to the Selection tool.

Let's duplicate the word = Control+D.

For the bottom layer, let's apply Rose Light from the Background effects.

For the top layer, under Effects apply Text>Blurs>Evaporate. The effect should look like the one below.

Duplicate the layer and delete the current effects then apply CC PS Classic to the text.

Let's change that to Scatterize and change the colors as well.

Run a RAM Preview. Save it and look in your project file for the finished RAM movie. Drop it down into a new layer. Change the layer mode to Linear Light.

On the RAM movie layer apply CC Glass with the settings below.

Press on the spacebar to view the movie. At this point you should do another RAM Preview and save it. Save the project.
