In this tutorial I'll teach you how to create a motion path and mask, and use Vegas to animate the path. Tutorial Includes project files.
The first thing I did was to create an animation path using Position on the space jet layer. The keyframes are set as shown below in a 4 second animation.
Select the Position layer.
Copy it.
Paste it into the sky layer which is the background layer.
Under Effects & Presets, type in Vegas then drag and drop it onto the sky layer.
We want to create an effect of colored circles moving as if in the shape of a tube. It will follow that was created for the space jet animation which we pasted into the sky layer.
Here are the specifications for the animation.
Here's how it's set up.
We need a keyframe at the end of the animation for Rotation set to 1 x 125.
You should see the space jet following the Vegas animated path now. Here are three screenshots that should help you.
