There's a new feature in After Effects CS3 called Brainstorming and it helps you to create animation by offering you variety.
Let me show you what I mean. I've created a small animation of a shape with several effects added to it in 3D space. Below is a basic showing of the animation with 6 different screen shots.






Start by selecting the brain.

You'll get a warning which will tell you what to do.

I will select Glow attributes for this purpose.


The screen will appear. Change Randomness to 100%.

In the corner you'll find icons that allow you to expand a certain picture, save it, apply it, or brainstorm again.

Here are just a few of our choices.


When I found one I liked, I then applied it to the current animation. That's really how easy it is. You can apply it to rotation, scale, etc.
