In this tutorial I'll show you how to achieve a glow around text.
I've got some fairly dark text that I have typed into After Effects. It's difficult to see and creating a glow will bring out the text.
Find the Glow effect and add it to the text.
Here's the default version. Nice but let's try to make it lighter.
Let's change Glow Based On to Alpha Channel.
That'll give us this effect.
Then change Composite Original to be On Top.
Change Color Looping to Sawtooth B>A.
Change the colors.
Increase Glow Radius and Intensity.
Take Glow Threshold to 100%.
Increase Color Loops.
Reduce the A & B Midpoint to 0%.
Change the Glow Dimensions to Vertical.
You should now have a glow that looks like the one below.
