DHTML Buttons - Part 1
Jacquelin Vanderwood | 1 | | Open up Illustrator. Make sure the Layers palette is in view. Create one square and duplicate it as shown below. | | 2 | | Double-click the layer. Layer Options appear. Type in off4colorsquare for the off position of the button. | | 3 | | Pull that layer onto the Create New Layer icon. Double-click that layer and type in on4colorsquare. Click on the little circle in the layer to select only that layers squares. With the square selected, open Roughen and set to Size: 15, Detail 10. Your button will appear jagged at the edges now. This is the 'on' button. | | 4 | | Click the eye off of that layer. Press Shft+Ctrl+Alt+S to save as a .gif. Make sure you save with as little color as possible. In this instance we only have four so it's not a problem. Save as off4colorsquare in a specific folder and file. Now go back again and turn off that layer and turn on on4colorsquare and save again. If you have to change the amount of colors, do it. | | 5 | | Create a third layer and hide the previous layers. Create something that you will save as onto a new page in FrontPage. | | 6 | | Open FrontPage. Select New>Normal. Go find the off4colorsquare button using the Insert Picture From File button. | Copyright 2003, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved |
