Using Make with Top Object - Adobe Illustrator Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood November 15, 2003 | 1 | | You probably wonder what is Make With Top Object. It's a part of Envelope Distort. I began this project with a simple square. I then duplicated it and changed the colors randomly. I selected that row and then rotated it and moved it down. | | 2 | | Then I selected all of the squares and moved them down pressing the Alt key to duplicate. And finally pressed Control+D to continue to duplicate. | | 3 | | Next I drew half of a butterfly. Averaged the two end points using vertical. Duplicated it. Moved it into place pressing the shift key. Used Control+J to join both sets of end points by selecting them with the Direct Selection tool. | | 4 | | At this point I pressed Control+A to select everything. | | 5 | | I opened Envelope Distort and chose Make with Top Object. | | 6 | | Then pressed OK. Select Expand and check all boxes. | | 7 | | I then applied a 1 pt black stroke to the piece. | | 8 | | From here I used Transform and then Ungroup on the piece and applied a Drop Shadow. | | 9 | | Here is the finished piece we created with Make with Top Object. | Copyright 2003, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
