Painlessly Set Overprint Options for Overlapping Colors - Adobe Illustrator Prepress Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood June 1, 2004 | 1 | | Here we have a piece we've created in Illustrator. We need to set it up for printing but how do we set the overprint options? | | 2 | | First select the object you want to overprint. | | 3 | | Now under Attributes check Overprint Fill. (If you have trouble with black ink being rich enough create a new black consisting of 50% cyan, yellow, magenta, and then 100%. This makes a richer black than what Illustrator provides.) | | 4 | | Now select the objects we want to have overprinting. | | 5 | | Select Filters>Colors and Overprint Black. | | 6 | | Specify the percentage of black we want the black to print. Since we only have a fill with black in it, I have specified Apply to Fill. That's all there is to it. | Copyright 1998-2004, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
