Create the Ultimate Background Design - Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop Tutorial

Jacquelin Vanderwood June 15, 2004   1 Let's start in Illustrator. Using the Pen tool create petal like the one below. Apply a tri-color gradient as shown.   2 Select the Rotate tool and move the anchor point to the inner tip of the petal.   3 Hold the Alt key down and rotate.   4 Hit Control+D to duplicate as shown below approximately.   5 Hold the Control key down and reduce the size of this petal.   6 Use Alt and the Rotate tool to make the first duplicated petal at a turn. Press Control D to duplicate as shown below.   7 Follow the steps twice more.   8 Now create a leaf shape and apply a tri-color gradient to it. Press Shift+Control and [ to send to the back.   9 Move the anchor point to the center and rotate accordingly.   10 Again move the anchor point to the center and rotate pressing the Alt key to duplicate and then press Control+D to repeat the procedure.   11 Using the Alt key and rotating tool create a new leaf. Make this leaf larger. Make the gradient darker. Make copies and rotate into place.       12 Now select all the flower. Copy. Paste into Photoshop as pixels.   13 Select the flower and define it as a brush.   14 Open Brushes and set Shape Dynamics as shown below.   15 For Scattering use the specifications below.   16 Follow the Color Dynamics settings as well.   17 Select a bright pink color.    18 Now create a new larger composition and begin painting the background.
