So you're new to Illustrator and you're having a problem making a design stay put when using the Warp tool. It's a really easy process that you'll kick yourself for not knowing.
Here we have a piece that I created in Illustrator. I applied the Glass filter to this that I had also applied a pattern to.
When I tried applying the Flag Warp to the piece, the design inside did not follow along. How can I fix that?
With the piece still selected, open Object and select Expand Appearance.
The bounding box will appear distant from the piece.
Now open Effect and select Warp. Choose Flag again.
Check the Preview button after moving the Bend arrow left or right.
The design should now be stable and move in the direction of the piece.
