The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to create an object over a blend.
To start, create several lines in different colors.

Use the Blend tool and click on each line consecutively.

Create a shape by using the Elliptical tool. To duplicate it, select the Rotate tool, move the anchor point to the end, hold the Alt key down and the Shift key and drag 45 degrees. Press Control+D to duplicate in a circle.

In Pathfinder, use the Add to shape area then choose Expand.

Move the design into place.

With both items selected, choose Make Clipping Mask.

Here I've done the same thing but using a different shape and colors.
