This lesson is about transforming dull ordinary fonts into interesting, colorful fonts. Tutorial Includes project files.
I downloaded this Basic Font from DaFont.com.

Once I typed the lettering, I expanded the it so that I could transform it.

Next ungroup the letters and make changes to letters such as scaling them or rotating them.

Next select the Live Paint tool and fill the letters individually.

Using the Direct Selection tool, click on the interior of each letter one at a time, select the Knife tool and make cuts. If it turns black, that's ok. Use the Direct Selection tool to fill each section with a color. When finished select each cut part with the same tool and make the stroke white.

Duplicate the letters and delete the fill color.

Change the Stroke to 4 pt.

Change the color of the stroke as I have to an orange yellow and Transparency to Hue.

Here is the result after I added a star over the I.
