Here's another version of a poster which will help you learn Illustrator better and prompt you with new ideas. Tutorial Includes project files.
This is an 11 x 17 document and in the first layer I've laid out a rectangle the size of the page. With a new gradient created, I used the Gradient tool and dragged from the top area down.

Using the Line Segment tool, draw one vertical line and then Alt+Shift+drag right to duplicate. Press Control+D to make more.

Let's create an arc with the Arc tool and duplicate it twice more, then add a drop shadow.

Drag the middle arc to the top layer of lines so that it appears above the lines.

Now create a white circle and duplicate and place on the lines in different places reminding us somewhat of notes on the guitar.

Using the Spiral tool, create one spiral and duplicate. Rotate the second spiral and move the end into position with the end of the other one.

Create a thin horizontal rectangle that hangs off the side of the page. Duplicate that several times then select all of them and apply the scribble effect.

Next I used the Spiral tool to create a spiral and then selected the Type on a Path tool and typed in the text. Then I selected all but the first letter and increased the size by one point. I did this until I reached the end and then I duplicated the text and changed it's cold to white. Make the gray type 20% transparent ink.

I created two layers and added text, then rotated it and dropped it part way off the side.

Create a white rectangle and use the previous scribble effect on it. Add text for information and tab for each line.

Here's the green poster I promised you.
