In this tutorial we'll be converting photos using Live Paint to make interesting backgrounds. Tutorial Includes project files.
I've selected a photo I found in Bridge (photos provided by Photos.com).

I want to drag that photo directly into Illustrator.

Let's select Tracing Options in Illustrator.

I have selected to open the Pantone Metallic library so for Palette I have chosen to use it here. I cranked up the selections as far as I could and selected preview.

Here are the results.

I then decreased the Transparency so that the picture would be fit for a background image.


Here's a photo I applied Warp Options to.

With Pantone Pastels library open, I applied the settings below to the photo above.

Here are the results.

I applied Twist at 25% to the piece and can use it as an interesting background.
