In this tutorial I will create lettering for signage for a Bait Shop. Tutorial Includes project files.
To start out I created a background layer and filled a rectangle with color. Then with the Type Tool selected, I used the font below to type out the lettering.

I then had to select first the B and then the P and make the necessary changes to the vertical scale and baseline shift.

Now it's time to use Create Outlines.

To curve the text, Warp Options was used with Arch as the selection at 32%. Use Expand Appearance to make it permanent.

Next Alt+Drag a copy of the text.

Selecting the Appearance Palette, click on Stroke and then apply the 10 pt Round brush to the lettering.

Make a duplicate and select the back version. In the appearance palette, double-click on the stroke. Change the diameter of the stroke to 2 pt and change it's coloring to white. Drag the other lettering down and adjust it's placement.

Alt+drag a copy of the third set of lettering and change it's color.

Create a 2 pt. stroke for the lettering in a slightly different color.

With the last lettering, the fourth lettering selected, apply the Scribble Options shown below.

It will look like this.

With more lettering that was duplicated, Alt+drag to create a second set of lettering and place slightly off center. With both lettering sets selected, go the Pathfinder and choose Subtract from shape area.

Move into place and change it transparency status to Screen.

Select the third item down from the top using Select Next Item Below twice.

Change it's later transparency type to Difference.

Finally, type in AND TACKLE in black. Duplicate it and move up and over a few pixels. Then apply the last Scribble effect to it. Add a swish at the bottom using a straight line with a brush stroke applied to it. Let's call it finished.
