In this tutorial we will show you how to scale an object without scaling its stroke, in Adobe Illustrator CS3.
This is a great tutorial, it will help you when you are about to create for example, logos.
Start a new document.
Then, select the Rectangle Tool and draw one or two rectangles:


On this example what I will teach you is what NOT to do, look:
Open your Transform palette, and click on the options in the upper right.
Make sure the "Scale Strokes and Effects" is checked.

Now that you have "Scale Strokes and Effects" active, scale your object/s.
Now, you will notice that not only the rectangle gets bigger, but your stroke as well:

This is what you have to do:
Simply uncheck "Scale Strokes and Effects" in the Transform palette:

Now, scale your rectangle.
As you may see, now only the object gets bigger or smaller but your stroke stays the same size.

Sometimes the simplest things can be the most helpful.
