In this tutorial we will show you how to create your own symbol, in Adobe Illustrator CS3.
Start a new document.
Then, select the Paintbrush Tool and draw for example, a flower.
Important: The object we are about to draw will be our future new symbol.
Then, we will need to paint the flower, lets select a yellow color.
After that, we can give all the details we need to add to our new flower:
Then, we will need to select all the image.
Right click over it and select: Group:
Now, we will need to release the flower into the SYMBOLS panel:
As soon as we do so, the Symbol Options window will pop up.
Give the symbol a name, in this case: "flower"
And select: "Movie Clip".
After we press OK, our new symbol will be added into the Symbols panel, look:
So, every time we need to use this symbol we just need to drag it into the document as many times as we need:
