In this tutorial we will show you how to create an abstract background in Illustrator CS3.
Create a rectangular path and fill it with blue gradient
Then, select the colors you need at the Gradient window.
In this case, blue and light blue.
After doing so, apply the gradient.
Then, you must draw paths in new layers and paint them.
After that, go to the Blend Options and select the following settings:
