In this tutorial I'd like to show you some nifty shortcuts for type selection that will help speed up your workflow.
Suppose you have the Selection tool selected and you want to select some text. If you hold you cursor over the text until you see only the point of an arrow, then click, you'll be automatically changed to the Text tool.

To select one word click twice on it.

To select a single line, click three times on it.

To select text in it's entirety, four clicks in quick succession will do.

To jump from word to word, hold down the Control key and hit the left or right arrow.

To go to the top of the text, hold down the Control key and click on the up arrow.

To go to the end of the text, hold down the Control key and hit the down arrow.

To jump from one paragraph to the next, press the Control key and hit the up or down arrow.

To select whole words, hold down the Shift and Control keys and use the left or right arrow.

Control and Home takes you to the beginning of the text, and Control and End takes you to the very end.

To select individual letters, hold the Shift key down and use the right and left arrows.

If you needing to select one line at a time, hold Shift and up or down arrow.

If you are in the middle of a line for instance, you can press the Shift key and Home to go to the beginning of the line. And this works in reverse with the End key.

Control+Shift and up or down arrows will select paragraphs.

If you put your cursor at one spot in the paragraph and hold the Shift key down, then click in the next place you want the selection to end, it will select everything in that specific area.
