In this tutorial I'll show you how to use the Triple Switch utility to create different textures to several objects in a scene.
I've started with three objects. What I've done here so far is opened Hypershade and applied a Blinn shader to the objects. I then added a texture

Click on the arrow to access the Maya shader nodes to get a texture. I chose fractal and changed the colors under Color Balance under the fractal1 tab in Attributes.

Now still in the Common Material Attributes section, right-click and select Create New Texture.

Click on the Utilities tab and go down to Switch Utilities. Select Triple Switch. You should also see the tripleShadingSwitch1 now in the Hypershade screen.

You should now see Switch Attributes in the Attributes Editor.

Go to Window>Outliner to open it up. I'm showing you two ways to add shapes to the Switch Attributes. In the Outline middle-click and drag a shape on the Switch Attributes In Shape column.

Or, click on Add Surfaces. Let's then select pCube1 and Remove Item.

For pCube3 click on Map Item and select a texture. Do the same for pCube2. The Hypershader should look like the one below.

Let's render it. You can see now that textures can be layered onto other textures. The added textures below can be manipulated so that they blend in more with the background texture. You can then create a multitude of effects with Triple Switch.
