In this tutorial I'll demonstrate how easy it is to use the Clamp Utility to achieve interesting texture results.
Here is the geometry we'll be using.

Start by opening up Hypershade.

Click on Blinn.

In the Attribute Editor for blinn1 click on the checkerboard box.

Select a texture such as Marble.

Right-click and apply to the geometry.

Under Marble Attributes click on the checkerboard box for Filler Color.

Open Utilities and select Clamp.

For Min, Max, and Input click on each arrow and select a texture. I used the default settings for the textures I chose.

The Hypershade should now look like the below even if you have chosen different textures.

The geometry should now look like the one below.
