In this tutorial I'll show you how to create a simulated water texture using the cloud and marble textures.
Start by creating a polygon plane.

Use the Soft Modification tool to make some texture on the plane.

Let's open Hypershade and create a blinn.

Over in the Attribute Editor click on the checkerboard box.

Under 3D Textures select Cloud.

Our nodes should look like this.

Under the cloud1 tab, change Color 1 to Blue.


Also change Color Offset to darker blue.


Over Default Color right-click and choose Create New Texture.

For the Bump Map option, let's choose marble.

Reset the 3d Bump Attributes to the ones below.

Select the wireframe in the middle and increase the size.

Select the second wireframe and rotate it.

Render the scene. You should now have a texture like the one below.
