Fundamentals of Drawing a Cute Character
| Jacquelin Vanderwood June 1, 2004 | 1 | | The cuteness factor...is an equation based upon basic proportions of a baby + expressions that are shy and sweet. Let's break it down for you. | | 2 | | A cute character would have small ears in proportion to an adult. | | 3 | | From the front the neck cannot be seen or is almost non-existent but from the side would connect directly to the torso. | | 4 | | The body would have a pear shape and is elongated. From the side view the back would sway down from head to bottom. The bottom would protrude but never bulge. | | 5 | | The head in proportion to the body is large. | | 6 | | It would have a high forehead. | | 7 | | Eyes are spaced low on the head and are wide apart. | | 8 | | Arms are always short and never skinny. They taper down to the hand and have tiny fingers. | | 9 | | The tummy should show a well-fed baby and bulge. | | 10 | | Finally, the legs would taper and end in small feet. | | 11 | | These are the basics for drawing all cute characters including animals, aliens, you name it. | Copyright 1998-2004, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
