| Jacquelin Vanderwood June 15, 2004 | 1 | | First thing you need is a pencil sketch for the background of the drawing. | | 2 | | Start with a fairly light color and block it making sure to keep the light areas light. | | 3 | | With a slightly darker version of the same color, add shadow to the appropriate areas such as under the nose by the ears, below the mouth, under the chin and by the eyes. | | 4 | | Use a light pink and start filling the lip area, the cheeks, temple. | | 5 | | Use a light blue and add into the shadow areas such as by the nose, around the chin, and areas you think may need it. | | 6 | | Lightly use pink red and fill in more areas. | | 7 | | Use a medium brown and continue adding into the tone of the skin. | | 8 | | Use dark blue and enhance the eyes. Change to black and give the figure some eyelashes and eyebrows. Use the dark blue create dark areas at the corner of the mouth. | | 9 | | Select yellow and continue adding into the picture. | | 10 | | If you have an oily pencil, select a very light powder blue and add a highlight under the nose. Also on top of both eyes, the ear and wherever you think there needs to be light. | | 11 | | Use dark brown to add in more definitive darks. | | 12 | | Use a blender pencil to smooth out the pencil strokes. | | 13 | | Using an oily white, place bright highlights then use the blender to smooth. That's it. | Copyright 1998-2004, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
