| Jacquelin Vanderwood June 15, 2004 | 1 | | Start with three circles. | | 2 | | Add in the lines below. | | 4 | | Go ahead and draw in the arms and legs. | | 5 | | It's time to fill in the rest of the character. Draw the finished piece as seen below. | | 6 | | Scan the figure into Photoshop. Use the Eraser tool and Pencil tool to clean up areas that need it and to fix and connect lines. | | 7 | | Select the artwork in the layer by pressing Control and click. Use Feather set at 2. Select Expand and expand by 2. Fill with black. | | 8 | | Create a new layer below the sketch. Fill in the skin areas. Select the areas in the sketch layer and reselect the color layer. Invert. Contract by 1 and hit Delete. | | 9 | | Continue to follow this method but create new layers for each color but instead of hitting Invert, use Expand and expand by 1 then fill. | | 10 | | I've completed the color here. | | 11 | | Lock all the color layers. Now using the Pen tool select areas and then fill with lighter or darker color on it's similar colored layer. | | 12 | | Here is the completed piece with all the shadows and highlights added. | Copyright 1998-2004, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
