We start this colored pencil lesson with Prismacolor colored pencils. The colors in the drawing below are violet, mulberry, black cherry, imperial violet, and Tuscan red. The colors are laid out in five columns as I have done below.

Using a stiff paint brush and Bestine Solvent and Thinner, I scrubbed the colors together as much as possible.
I then used a white pencil to sketch out a small pumpkin and olives.
Using an graphic eraser, I erased areas of the drawing. It would be better to use an electric eraser if you have one.

I used the white pencil to outline the pieces again, and then used a crosshatch method of drawing to add in more highlight.
To color in the pumpkin and the green olives I used orange, raspberry, carmine red, and olive green. To create a highlight on the pumpkin and olives I used cream and then used white with hard pressure to mix together. I used black to outline and to add detail. There are a lot of possibilities for this type of colored pencil method. You will see a lot of art used in advertising where this style of artwork is used.
