I started by sketching out my idea for an elf then enhancing the lines.

Using acrylic paint, I drybrushed in the base colors.
Using watercolor in this step, I watered down the watercolor and damped it off on a paper towel and then applied to the different areas using similar colors as were used in the acrylic step.
I let the watercolor dry and changed to colored chalk. I lightly applied color all around the image. I then lightly blended the chalk in areas I felt needed to be softened.

At this point in the painting I chose a soft pencil for this step in which I randomly doodled around the piece adding texture and interest. However, I did not do this step around the profile of the face or the arm but I added a few strokes for the eyelashes. I then considered the piece finished. Now you can see how combining various media can help to create a very interesting and appealing piece of art.
