On a gray canvas prepared with acrylic paint that has dried, sketch a bunny. You can use a brush or palette knife, or even charcoal. Whatever is most comfortable for you.

Start by blocking in colors in sections. You're not going to want a lot of paint on the knife, just enough to be able to scrape it onto the canvas or paper.
Without damaging the original paint, use a little less dry paint and add more detail. The less dry it is now, the more it will adhere and not mess up the original paint.
Add light highlights to the eye, nose, and some of the fur. Then use a very spare coating of paint and add more color to the bunny. Use the edge of the palette knife to blend.
Now you can add in the shadow using the edge of the palette knife first putting down the darker color and then adding in the lighter one. Use a dry palette knife with a lighter gray for the background. Let's call it finished.
