Donnamarie J. Walker March 27, 2002 | 1 | | Tools Needed: Paint Shop Pro Flaming Pear's Flood or Almathera's Puddle Filter Blade Pro or Ulead Art Texture | | 2 | | Right click, copy and paste as a new image the Mountain Image below. Open your Layer Palette, click on the background layer and promote to layer, rename Image. Go to Canvas Resize and resize your canvas to 400 x 400. Your finished image will be larger than the one shown above, which has been reduced in size by 75%.
| | 3 | | Add a new layer, move it below the Image layer, fill with black. | | 4 | | Duplicate the Image layer and move the copy below original. Go to the Layer Palette and turn off the Image layer. Now working on the copy, go to Effects>Mosaic Antique and use these settings:
Columns: 50 Rows: 50 Symmetric: Checked Tile Opacity: 100 Grout Width: 1 Grout Opacity: 55
Click OK and rename this layer Mosaic and turn down the Opacity to 70. Sharpen. Now would be a good time save your work in PSP format. Turn on the Image layer. | | 5 | | Back to the Image layer, resize by 75% and Sharpen. Duplicate this layer, rename it Flood, move it below the Image layer, turn off the Image layer for now and apply Flaming Pear's Flood, using the Ordinary Waves preset and the default settings except change the Horizon to 70. Click OK. | | 6 | | If using Almathera's Puddle use these settings:
Pond Reflection: 252 Displacement: 46 Lighting Strength: 68 Perspective: 85 Scale: 47
If you want a more wavy effect after using the Puddle Filter, apply PSP's Waves with these settings:
Horizontal Displacement Amplitude: 23 Wavelength: 10
Vertical Displacement Amplitude: 0 Wavelength: 1 | | 7 | | Save your work. Back to the Layer palette, click on the Image layer and add a new layer, Frame. Set your foreground color to white, select your Preset Shapes tool, choose Rectangle>Stroked>Width 5 this will be the first Frame. Starting at the left edge of your Image, pull out a rectangle shape to fit the image. Go to Selections>Select All>Selections Float and apply your favorite Blade Pro preset or use Ulead's Art Texture. | | 8 | | Using your Eraser tool set to Horizontal and a large size, erase the bottom portion of the Frame only. Apply Flood or Almathera. | | 9 | | Add one more layer for your signature and apply. Go to Layers>Merge All Flatten. Using your Crop tool, crop away any extra black areas, you want to be close to those tiny sparkles. Add a Border of 5 pixels and apply your preset again. Save in your favorite format. | | 10 | | That's it, you now have a Frame with Flair! This is a great technique to use on those WETs we have in our groups each week.
