Rag Doll Series: Puppy - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial

April 17, 2002 | 1 | | This is a Selection tutorial so download your zip file here. Open Paint Shop Pro. Copy and paste as a new image the Rag Doll Puppy Palette below.
Open a new image 450 x 400 Transparent. Selection tutorials are rather repetitious so I will list the steps we will be taking.
1. New layer and load selection.
2. Flood fill with black.
3. Contract by 2.
4. Fill with color.
5. Deselect and add noise to smooth out the shadow.
6. SAVE! | | 2 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_ears_tail selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #CC9933.
Deselect.
Save. | | 3 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_back_leg selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCC99.
Deselect. | | 4 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_body selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCC99.
Deselect.
Save. | | 5 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_front_legs. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCC99.
Deselect. | | 6 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_feet_ear_tail_tips selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #CC6633.
Deselect.
Save. | | 7 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_head selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCC99.
Deselect. New layer.
Load the puppy_chin selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect. New layer.
Load the puppy_tongue selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #990000.
Deselect.
New layer.
Load the puppy_cheek1 selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect.
New layer.
Load the puppy_cheek2 selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect. | | 8 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_nose selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #990000.
Deselect. New layer.
Load the puppy_buttons selections. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #CC9933.
Deselect. | | 9 | | New layer.
Load the puppy_details selection. Fill with black.
Deselect. | | 10 | | New layer.
Select your Paint Brush:
Round
Size: 50
Hardness-Opacity-Density: 100
Step: 25
Color: #CC6633
Place a blush circle on each cheek.
Effects: Gaussian Blur:7%
Lower Opacity to 80%.
Save. | | 11 | | New layer.
Paint Brush: Size: 10
Color: #FFFFCC
Paint a highlight on the nose, apply Gaussian Blur: 3%
While still on this layer change your brush size.
Paint Brush: Size: 2
Color: #FFFFCC
Paint a highlight on each eye. | | 12 | | From here on you can merge all layers and save in PSP format or export as a tube. I usually save in PSP format with all layers intact, duplicate and merge all layers visible, then export as a tube. You can use your Rag Doll Cat to decorate your cards and they make great Signature Tags when resized smaller.
