Rag Doll Series: The Cat - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial

April 16, 2002 | 1 | | This is a Selection tutorial so download your zip file here. Open Paint Shop Pro. Copy and paste as a new image the Rag Doll Cat Palette below.
Open a new image 385 x 390 Transparent. Selection tutorials are rather repetitious so I will list the steps we will be taking.
1. New layer and load selection.
2. Flood fill with black.
3. Contract by 2.
4. Fill with color.
5. Invert and do a drop shadow.
6. Deselect and add noise to smooth out the shadow.
7. SAVE! | | 2 | | New layer.
Load the cat_ears selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FF9933.
Invert, drop shadow using #944A02.
Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 100%
Blur: 30.6
Deselect and add Noise: 3%
Save. | | 3 | | New layer.
Load the cat_back_leg selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FF9933.
Invert, drop shadow.
Deselect and add Noise: 3% | | 4 | | New layer.
Load the cat_body_tail_legs selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FF9933.
Invert, drop shadow.
Deselect, Noise: 3%
Save. | | 5 | | New layer.
Load the cat_bib. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCCCC.
Deselect. | | 6 | | New layer.
Load the cat_feet selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFCCCC.
Deselect.
Save. | | 7 | | New layer.
Load the cat_head selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FF9933.
Invert, drop shadow.
Deselect, Noise: 3% New layer.
Load the cat_chin selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect. New layer.
Load the cat_tongue selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect.
New layer.
Load the cat_cheek1 selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect.
New layer.
Load the cat_cheek2 selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect. New layer.
Load the cat_nose selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect. | | 8 | | New layer.
Load the cat_inner_ears selection. Fill with black.
Contract by 2, fill with #FFFFCC.
Deselect.
Save. | | 9 | | New layer.
Load the cat_details selection. Fill with black.
Deselect. | | 10 | | New layer.
Select your Paint Brush:
Round
Size: 50
Hardness-Opacity-Density: 100
Step: 25
Color: #FFCCCC
Place a blush circle on each cheek.
Effects: Gaussian Blur:5-7%
Save. | | 11 | | New layer.
Paint Brush: Size: 2
Color: #FFFFCC
Paint a highlight on each eye. | | 12 | | From here on you can merge all layers and save in PSP format or export as a tube. I usually save in PSP format with all layers intact, duplicate and merge all layers visible, then export as a tube. You can use your Rag Doll Cat to decorate your cards and they make great Signature Tags when resized smaller.
