Selection Masking - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
| Vikki Olds | 1 | | Selection masking is a very fun effect in Paint Shop Pro. At first it seems a little backwards but it's very easy to get the hang of and you can create some stunning effects with it. Choose an image that you want to use. I chose my ghetto boy below. | | 2 | | Create a new layer. I named mine Mask Layer. | | 3 | | Fill that layer with either a solid color or a pattern fill. You can use the Flood Fill tool to fill the layer with a pattern by choosing the Flood Fill tool, selecting a pattern fill style and choosing the pattern you would like to use. If you have a pattern of your own you want to use; open it in Paint Shop Pro and choose that pattern from the pattern style selection palette. | | 4 | | Go to Mask>New>Show All Your Layer Palette will now reflect that the layer we are working on is a mask layer by showing the Mask next to the eyeglasses.. | | 5 | | We are using a selection for this masking tutorial so choose the Selection Tool. I've chosen Ellipse for the shape of the selection I want to make in the Tool Options palette. To create a nice blend between the mask layer and the image layer, set a high feather amount. I've set mine at 28. | | 7 | | Create your selection on the Mask Layer. | | 8 | | Once you have the selection, hit the Delete key. | | 9 | | The image above now shows the image layer through the mask layer above it. Merge your layers and save the image. | Copyright 2002, Vikki Olds, All Rights Reserved |
