Converting Text to Curves - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
| Vikki Olds | 1 | | One of the advantages of being able to convert text to curves is the ability to alter the letters in any way you want. I started the above image with Comic Sans MS for the font. Start a new blank image 500 x 150. Make sure Create as Vector is checked at the bottom of the dialog. Choose the text tool, type in the text you want and click ok. | | 2 | | For this example it doesn't matter what color the text is because I am going to apply a texture to it. Go to Objects>Convert Text to Curves>As Character Shapes. This will allow each individual letter to be edited. | | 3 | | Once you have converted to curves take a look at the layer palette. Open the Vector Text layer by clicking on the plus sign. You will see a layer for each letter. Click on the first letter you want to alter and then on the Tool Palette click Node Edit. Edit the letter as you like and then choose the next one you want to alter. | | 4 | | Below shows the alterations I made to my text. | | 5 | | I added a background color only to show where everything is in the image. You can add a solid color, texture, gradient or whatever you like. | | 6 | | I wanted to apply one of the Sculpture patterns I created in another tutorial so I went to Effects>Texture Effects>Sculpture. I applied the pattern to my text. | | 7 | | Below shows the results after applying the Sculpture Effect to my text. | | 8 | | I then applied the Pattern to my background. | | 9 | | This is a quick and easy way to create custom looking text without a lot of work or hassle. | Copyright 2002, Vikki Olds, All Rights Reserved |
