Transparent Backgrounds - Corel Paint Shop Pro Tutorial
| Vikki Dawson | 1 | | In this tutorial we're going to learn how to create a transparent background for our images. You can use the image below for the tutorial or pick one of your own. If you want to use the one below, right click on it and choose Save Picture As and save it to your hard drive. Open your image in Paint Shop Pro. | | 2 | | Select the color picker tool. | | 3 | | Click on the background of your image to pick up the color. You should see it in your color palette. If it's not on the right, click on the double headed arrow to move it there. | | 4 | | Go to Colors>Set Palette Transparency. | | 5 | | If your image is not a gif image the following dialog will open. Click "Yes" to continue. | | 6 | | The following dialog will appear when you click "Yes". For now, apply the settings shown below and click "OK". | | 7 | | The last dialog that will open allows you to choose the color that you want to be transparent. As you can see, the color we picked up is in there. Select "Set the transparency value to the current background color. Click "Proof" and look at your image. | | 8 | | If your image shows a checker pattern where the background color was click "OK". Now when you look at your image, you won't see the transparency. To view the transparency go to Colors>View Palette Transparency. | | 9 | | Here is the big key to palette transparency. The standard image file format for transparency is .GIF. So, when you save the image, you must save it as a .GIF file. If you save it as anything else, you will lose the background transparency. Below is the final image with a transparent background. | Have fun! | Copyright 2003, Vikki Dawson, All Rights Reserved | |
