In this tutorial we will show you how to make a plastic ball effect in Paint Shop Pro.
First lets create a new 400x400 pixels file, with white background image.

After that, add a new Raster layer (Layers/New Raster Layer)

Then, pick the Selection Tool and draw a rounded selection with the following settings:

Now, save the selection to the Alpha Channel by going to: Selections /Load/Save Selection /Save Selection to Alpha Channel

After that, set your Foreground and Fill Properties to Gradient/Duotone Red and then Floodfill your current selection


Then deselect the selection by pressing CTRL+D
After doing so, lets Add a new Raster layer (Layers/New Raster Layer)

Then, we will pick again the Selection Tool and we will draw an elliptical selection with the following settings:

Now, lets Floodfill our current selection with the Black-White Gradient:


After that, change the layer's Blend Mode to Screen:

Then, deselect:

Now, lets add a new Raster layer (Layers/New Raster Layer) and lets set our Foreground Properties to White and Background to Red:

Now, lets Load our saved selection from the Alpha Channel (Selections/Load/Save Selection/Load Selections From Alpha Channel).

And lets Floodfill our current selection with Foreground-Background Sunburst Gradient:


After that, lets apply the Spherize filter (Effects/Geometric Effects/Spherize/Strength=100)

Then, lets Change the layer's blend mode to Screen (Layers/Properties/Blend Mode=Screen)

Lets Deselect the selection by pressing CTRL+D and lets Duplicate the current layer (Layers/Duplicate).
After that, change layer's blend mode to Overlay (Layers/Properties/Blend Mode=Overlay)

Now Add a new Raster layer (Layers/New Raster Layer) and create a small selection over the image and Floodfill with white color:

Final result:
