Texturing Objects Vertical Warp - Corel Paint Shop Pro 7 Tutorial

Vikki Olds Using Paint Shop Pro 7's Geometric effects you can wrap images around objects. In this tutorial we're going to work with a simple vertical warp. 1 Find an image that you can use for a vertical warp. Glasses and mugs are good choices. I'm not happy with my mug but it's the only one I could find. Preferably for this project you want something without the lip at the top like mine has.   2 Select the Freehand selection tool and set the selection type to Smart Edge, the Feather to 0 and make sure antialias is checked.   3 When using the Freehand selection tool with Smart Edge enabled you click a starting point and release. Then move the mouse to the next place on the edge you want to select and click and release the mouse button again. Continue doing this until you have your full selection. Don't worry if you selection goes a little further than you want as mine did at the bottom of the cup. We can fix that later.   4 Create a new layer. I chose to use the Paint Shop Pro 7 tubes for my cup and I used the Corn tube and the Fish tube. On the new layer I just created I placed a couple of corn rows.   5 Then go to Effects>Geometric Effects>Cylinder Vertical and apply the effect. I had the effect set to 30%. You can do more or less depending on how it looks on your image.   6 I added a new layer and using the Fish tube added some fish over my first corn rows. I then applied the Cylinder Vertical warp to that layer. I added another new layer and place corn rows on it. Again, I applied the Cylinder Vertical warp to that layer.   7 I again added another layer, placed some fish on it and applied the Cylinder Vertical warp.   8 I now have four layers. Two with fish and two with corn rows. I altered the transparency just a bit as reflected in the screenshot below.   9 If you see that part of your selection is not part of your cup or glass image you can use the clone tool to clean that up. The last step is to go to Selections>Select None. Go to Layers>Merge All You now have a finished image to save and use.     Copyright 2001, Vikki Olds, All Rights Reserved
