| Donnamarie J Walker | 1 | | Open a new image 500 x 500 to give us room to work. You can always crop the excess when we are finished. | | 2 | | Open all your images in PSP. | | 3 | | Add a new layer. Copy and paste the star. | | 4 | | Select all, click your selection tool, now click on your image. You should have marching ants surrounding your selection. | | 6 | | Selections>Modify>Contract>1. Flood fill with this color: #DAB89B | | 7 | | Selections>Modify>Contract>10. Flood fill with black. | | 8 | | Selections>Modify>Contract>1. Flood fill with this color: #C47F5A | | 9 | | Add a new layer and apply the cutout feature with these settings: Opacity>60 Blur>20.5 Horizontal & Vertical>2 | | 10 | | While still selected, click on the star layer and add noise 13% Uniform. | | 11 | | Deselect. Turn off Layer 1. Merge star and cutout layers visible. Save in PSP format. | | 12 | | Click on your Presets Tool, foreground color Black, choose Circle>Stroked>LineWidth>1>Antialias checked>Vector not checked. Draw three small circles as pictured below. | | 13 | | Image>Resize>50%. Image>Sharpen.Move star to top of you work space. | | 14 | | Add a new layer. Open your hat template. Copy and paste onto layer. While selected, flood fill with black, contract the selection by 1, then flood fill with this color: #B65C89 | | 15 | | Add a new layer and repeat Step. #9. | | 16 | | Click on the hat layer while still selected and add noise at same settings as in Step #10. Turn off star layer and Layer 1, merge the cutout and hat layers visible. Resize by 75%. Save in PSP format. | | 17 | | Add a new layer. Copy and paste the hat template, then resize by 60%. Flood fill with black, selections contract by 1, flood fill with this color: #637F64 | | 18 | | Add noise, a new layer and apply the cutout once again. Turn off Layer 1, the red hat layer, and the star layer, merge visible. Save in PSP format. You now have a red hat section and a green hat section. | | 19 | | Add a new layer. Using your Presets Tool, color black, rounded rectangle, stroked, width 1, antialias checked, draw a small rectangle shape as shown below. Rotate right 35 degrees. Copy. | | 20 | | Paste the rectangular lines along the hat as shown below. | | 21 | | Click on the green hat layer, select all, then use your selection tool to capture the hat. While selected, invert selection. Click on the small rectangle lines layer and hit delete. This should erase all your lines outside of the hat. Merge these two layers. | | 22 | | While still on the green hat layer use your deformation tool to give it a little tilt as shown in the finished image. Sharpen. | | 23 | | Click on first red hat layer, copy and paste as a new layer, resize by 75%. Position the red hat above the green one. Now move this layer so it appears as if it is behind the green part. Use your deformation tool again and tilt it a bit. Sharpen. | | 24 | | Add a new layer. Go the the green hat layer and copy. Paste as a new selection. Resize by 75%. Mirror image and move it into place above and behind the second red hat section. You may have to adjust your layers. Save in PSP format. | | 25 | | Turn off the star layer and merge all four hat layers visible. | | 26 | | Click on your Draw Tool, we are going to make some little bows and some circles. Use color black, Freehand Tool, Stroked, Width 1, Antialias checked. | | 27 | | Draw some lines and the bows, you can also add some little circles if you'd like as shown below. | | 28 | | Resize this layer by 75%. Resize the Star layer by 75%. Now adjust the star so it is over the hat. Save in PSP format. | | 29 | | Add a new layer and open the face template. Copy and paste as a new selection. | | 30 | | While the face template is still selected, flood fill with this color: #E7C0B2. Add noise once again. | | 31 | | Add a new layer and apply the cutout effect, and merge these two layers visible. | | 32 | | Add a new layer, copy and paste Santa's beard. While still selected, flood fill with black, then go to selections>modify>contract>1, and flood fill with white. | | 33 | | Add a new layer. Using the same cutout as before, except change the black to this color:#DAB89B and these settings: Opacity>83% Blur>27.5 Horizontal & Vertical>9. | | 34 | | Add another layer and apply the cutout effect except change the Horizontal and Vertical to -9. | | 35 | | Turn off all other layers and merge the beard and cutout layers visible. Save in PSP format. | | 36 | | Add another layer and using your Draw Tool, color Black, width 1, draw lines the lines to accent the beard as shown below. Add a drop shadow in this color:#DAB89B. Go to the layer palette and bring down the opacity of this layer to 60%. Now our lines don't look so harsh. You can now add your little circles using your Preset Shape set at color Black, Stroked, width 1. You can merge this layer with the beard layer. Merge Visible. Make sure the other layer are off. | | 37 | | Okay, we're almost there! Now add another layer, copy and paste the moustache, flood fill with black, go to selections>modify>contract>1. Flood fill with white. Copy and paste as a new selection, mirror, line it up next to the left half as shown below. | | 38 | | Add another layer and draw some lines on your moustache. Add one more layer and use the drop shadow with this color: #DAB89B and these settings; Opacity>60% Blur>7.2 Horizontal and Vertical>2. Turn off all other layers and merge the moustache, lines, and drop shadow layers visible. | | 39 | | Add another layer, copy and paste Santa's nose, flood fill with black, contract by 1, flood fill with this color:#E7C0B2 Add noise. Deselect. | | 40 | | Using your paintbrush set on 1, paint out the black line on the top of Santa's nose as shown below using the color above. | | 41 | | Add a layer and drag it under the nose layer. We are going to add the eyes now. Using your Preset Shapes Tool, Ellipse, black, draw a small ellispe for your first eye. Now use your Draw Tool once again to make a small line on each side of Santa's eyes as shown below. | | 42 | | Final touches! One more layer to add the blush to Santa's cheeks and his nose. Using your airbrush and color:#B65C89 and these settings: Round> Size>29 Hardness>38 Opacity>40 Step>25 Density>20 spray a blush in the cheek and nose areas. When you are happy with the blush, go to Image>Effects>Gaussian Blur>5. You can then use your eraser and remove any stray pixels. | | 43 | | At this point you can choose to merge all layers visible and export as a tube, or, add a final layer and pull it beneath all layers and add your background color and texture, then merge all flatten and save in your favorite format!
