Donnamarie J. Walker | | | 1. Download Selection Files here and extract to your Selections folder or whichever you use. Now open a new image 800 x 400 Transparent to give us plenty of room to work. Click on File>Save As and name your image Race_Track. Save in PSP format. | | 2. Add a new layer, name it Outer_Track and load the Outer_Track.sel, flood fill with white or a color or texture of your choice. Deselect. | | | | | 3. Add a new layer, name it Inner_Track and load the Inner_Track.sel and fill with white or your own color. Deselect and Control S to save. | | 4. We want to add some dirt to the inside oval of the Outer Track. Using your Magic Wand, Tolerance and Feather:0, click inside the oval. It may be helpful to turn off the Inner Track layer. Now click inside all of the small squares of the fencing, just the ones facing you, not on the back part of the fence. When you have all of them selected, go to Selections Expand:2. Now add a new layer, name it Dirt and flood fill with Color:#B8A180. Deselect. Move this layer under the Outer_Track layer. Control S to save. | | | | 5. Let's add another layer, name this Dirt Tracks, switch your Color to #7E6848 and click on your Preset Shapes-Ellipse-Width:3. Starting at 128-258, draw out an Ellipse to 564-110. You may have to adjust this ellipse, use the example below to help with placement. Copy and paste as a new selection, then while still selected use the Deformation Tool to push the ellipse down a little on top and in a little on both sides as shown below. Deselect and apply a Gaussian Blur of 2. Control S to save.
| | | | 6. Click on the Outer_track layer and add a new layer, name it Grass1. We are going to add some Grass to the Inner Track. Selecting your Grass tube, begin placing grass throughout your Inner Track using the fencing as a guide. When you are finished, use your Eraser to remove any Grass that has gone beyond the fence area. Control S to save. | | 7. Click on your Dirt layer, add a new layer and name it Grass2, now pull this layer under the Dirt layer. We are going to add more Grass. You can add as much or as little as you would like, use the finished image as a guide. | | | | | 8. Click on the Outer_Track layer and add another layer, name if Grass3. We are going to add a few pieces of Grass in front of the fence along the bottom. This will help set our track down so it doesn't look like it is floating. You don't have to add a lot of Grass here, we don't want to completely cover our fence. When you are satisfied with the placement of Grass, Control S to save. | | 9. My goal for this tutorial was to teach you how to make a Race Track to add to your Prestigious Park. You can now add perspective shadows to your fencing, add some flags, or whatever you would like to do to finish off your Track. When you are satisfied with everything, Control S to save, Shift D to duplicate, then Merge Visible all of your layers. You can now finish your image as you'd like or add it to the rest of your Prestigious Park! | | Copyright 2002, Donnamarie J. Walker, All Rights Reserved |
