| Download The Lady Mouse Selection files here. Right click, copy and paste as a new image The Lady Mouse Color Palette below, this will make it easier to switch between colors. Since this is a Selections tutorial, from this point on you will flood fill each selection with black, then Contract by 1 and fill with a different color unless otherwise stated. Open a new image, 310 x 750 Transparent, add a new layer and name it Back_Ear. Load the lady_mouse_back_ear.sel and fill with black. Add a layer: Inner_Eye1. Switch your background color to the second blue in the Eye Palette and using your Prest Shape, Circle, Stroked and Filled, Width:1, draw out a circle to fit within the eye shape. Add another layer: Inner_Eye2, switch to the green color and draw out another smaller circle. While on this layer use your Paint Brush, Round Size 7, Black and paint in a pupil. Switch to the bright green, Size 2, and dot on a highlight. Change your Brush size to 5 and click on the Inner_Eye2 layer and paint in a highlight. Switch to Inner_Eye1 and paint in a bright blue highlight. Dot both with white Size 2. Size 1 on the pupil. | | 6 | | New layer: Nose and load the lady_mouse_nose.sel. Fill with black. While still selected, use your Paint Brush, Size 5 Round White, and paint a spot on her nose. Go to Gaussian Blur: 1. Deselect and Control S.
Almost finished! Add a new layer: Details and load the lady_mouse_details.sel and fill with black. Deselect. Since I didn't much care for how the detail lines looked on her dress, I've erased them. Back to your Draw Tool - Single Line - Size 1 - Black and draw several lines on her gloves for fingers. You can add several to the Sleeve Edge, too. One more layer: Blush. Switch to your Paint Brush, choose the first Orange in the Dress Palette, Size 35 and click once for your blush on the cheek. Go to Gaussian Blur: 5. | | 7 |
| At this point you can continue on and add whatever you'd to your Lady Mouse. You can add shading to brighten or darken any area. Just add a new layer when you want to add anything from flowers and pearls to your shading and move them as you need to. That way it is easier to remove or change something later on. Now save once more. I would duplicate the image, close the original, and finish working on The Lady Mouse and saving in your favorite format! For my Lady Mouse, I added a new layer for my Pearls. The Pearls were made using a circle with a Stroke of 1, Black and the yellow color of the gloves, then I copied and pasted each circle. For the Lace trim around the Neckline, Sleeves and Gloves I used a small black circle, Stroked and Width 1, Black. Copied and pasted these on their own layer. For me, while I am working, everything goes on its own layer and every layer has a name. Let's see.... I also added a Bow, which was done using the Draw Tool. I added small Buttons on her glove. Just one glove because you would not be able to see the Buttons on the other glove since it is facing away from you. And I finished off with one more layer for Details such as shading, lines on the sleeve, pink for the Inner Ear and details for the hair. All images shown are 50% of their actual size when finished. | | 8 | | I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial. This is one in a series of "Ladies" coming your way.
