T-Shirt Art - Corel Painter 8 Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood September 15, 2003 | 1 | | To create t-shirt art in Painter, let us start with a 500 x 500 pixel white background file. Next add a new layer so we're not working on the Canvas layer. | | 2 | | Let's also start with the color black. | | 3 | | Choose as your brush the Felt Pen option then right-click with your mouse and select Art Marker. | | 4 | | Create a rough sketch of the art on this layer. | | 6 | | Using the color black and the Ink Pen, draw out the shape as shown below. | | 7 | | Select a blue and create three shapes. You'll notice there will be 4 layers now. Hold the Shift key down and click on the three layers. Select Control+G to group. Then click on the arrow on the Layers palette up in the right corner and choose collapse to convert all the shapes to one layer. | | 8 | | With the Pen tool selected still or again, draw the next section of the artwork. Select all the layers that are the same colors and group then collapse. | | 9 | | Create the white section seen below. | | 10 | | Group the two layers and collapse. With the Magic Wand select the white then press Control+X to cut the section out. | | 11 | | With the Pen tool and the color red selected, create the ribbon. This will be a two-piece ribbon. Once the part of the ribbon that flows to the back is drawn, move that layer below the diamond shaped artwork and adjust. | | 12 | | With the color black chosen, let's select a new brush. This time it will be the Liquid Ink Velocity Sketcher. If you need to reduce the size of the brush just tap the [ key. | | 13 | | Choose Straight Line Strokes. Outline the artwork. To jump from place to place, temporarily click on the Freehand Stroke on the left and then back to the former. | | 14 | | Add the outlines as shown below which will remain on it's own layer. | | 15 | | Add text. As you can see, the artwork is very limited in it's colors which makes it more cost effective to print. | | 16 | | At this point you would set up the file for print using the Color Management feature in Painter 8. | Copyright 2003, Jacquelin Vanderwood, All Rights Reserved | |
