Painting with Palette Knives on Black Canvas - Corel Painter 8 Tutorial
| Jacquelin Vanderwood September 15, 2003 | 1 | | With the black canvas already in place, select the color below. |  | 2 | | Select Smeary Palette Knife 30. |  | 3 | | At the bottom of the canvas stroke in some paint as shown below. |  | 4 | | Right-click on the canvas and change to Sharp Triple Knife 3. Reduce the size to 1.5. |  | 5 | | Roughen up the edges and cracks. |  | 6 | | Rotate the canvas 90 degrees. Change to Smeary Palette Knife 40. |   | 7 | | Apply a vertical stroke then double click the Rotate tool to reset the canvas. |  | 8 | | Change color, rotate the canvas again, change to a regular palette knife, correct the settings as shown below, and add two stripes. |    | 9 | | Change to the color blue. |  | 10 | | Increase the size of the brush to fill the background area. Use the Straight Line tool. Double-click the rotate tool to reset. |  | 11 | | Select the top part we just created. Select Sea Foam from Nozzle Selector and do a Fill and then Fade. |  | 12 | | Apply a surface texture using Speckled Laid Paper. |  | 13 | | Apply a lighting effect to give the piece more realism. Select the Image Hose brush and Spray Size P Angle R with a size of 93.2.
