In this tutorial I'll show you how to add effects to an old container to make it more appealing. Tutorial Includes project files.
I'll be using the photo below care of Photos.com.

Let's start with the Impasto Depth Eraser brush.

Here are the stats for the brush.

Located under Brush Controls you'll find Impasto. Create the settings shown.

Let's zoom into this area near the handle.

In Brush Controls open Size and make the settings match the ones shown.

Start painting in the embossed effect. If you need to, go back over parts that you think need a little fixing.

Next, select the Pointed Profile under Size. Also, under Impasto, change Depth to 50% approximately.

For more realism, paint in some deeper marks.

Change to a Dull Profile and decrease the size of the brush.

Now select the Pen Tool and create a design.

Make sure Align to Path is selected. Paint over the design.

It will look something like this. If by chance you find you have done this procedure on a new layer, just select Drop from under the arrow on the Layers palette.

Finally, under Blenders select Coarse Smear and take out the little black charcoal marks left by the archeologists.
