In this lesson we'll Smeary Flat Cloner Brush to create a impressionistic painting of a rocky windswept beach scene. The photo used is care of Photos.com. Tutorial Includes project files.
Here is the photo we we'll be using.

We'll use the Smeary Flat Cloner brush.

The settings are as follows.

We'll use the Rotate Page tool to turn the photo to make it easier to paint. Lefties will turn their pages the opposite way. *To un-rotate something, double-click on the Rotate Page tool.

Let's select Quick Clone and turn piece so that it's comfortable for us.

For the sky I started from the right and painted to the center then painted from the left to the center. I then lightly tried to spread out the strokes more carefully.

Changing the Brush Size to 24, I painted in the areas of around the foam and waves in the water.

I then lowered the Brush Size to 20 and attempted to paint in the direction of the foam and waves.

Increasing the size of the brush to 28, I painted in the rest of the water areas including the foam.

Using a 40 pt. and 60 pt. brush, the last one for the rocks closest to the viewer, I painted in the rest of the rocks.

Finally, I changed to a Smeary Camel Cloner Brush size 15 pt. and tried to tidy up the water areas plus edges of rocks. I think the effect of the Smeary brushes can create amazing paintings in the style of the old impressionists and I enjoy painting with these brushes.
